Socks & Undies.
We know what you’re thinking, “Not socks and undies again?!?!”. But wait, these aren’t regular socks and undies they’re awesome outdoor socks and undies for awesome outdoor dads. Like all our gear, they’re trail tested and ultra comfortable so when all else fails, these are your go to gift. Guaranteed to please. And keep his prized possessions warm and comfortable in all sorts of conditions.
Lifeproof Phone Case.
Speaking of keeping prized possessions safe, surely his phone comes a close second to his ‘crown jewels’? And these waterproof, dust proof, life proof phone cases are the business. We’ve tested the Fre extensively across cold and wet, hot and dusty, dropped it, had it rained on, sweated on and our phone lived to tell the tale. Dad, and his phone, will love you for this one.
Beanies & Neck Tubes.
Sometimes you don’t know what size he is, so this is another great way to go. Unless dad has a ridiculously big head, we’re talking bobble-head proportions, these one-size-fits-all beanies and neck tubes will work perfectly. Pure, premium Aussie merino and a luxuriously soft and natural way to keep his head, neck and face warm.
Gerber/Bear Grylls Knife.
This Ultimate Fixed Blade Knife is so ultimate it made the Knife Fella’s list of Best Survival Knives of 2015. This particular knife comes with a ‘butt cap’ which, sadly, isn’t what we were hoping it would be, but actually covers the butt of the knife so you can use it as a hammer. By all accounts quite an excellent knife although we should note not everyone thinks Bear is the real deal these days, so this question was asked on a product forum “Does it have a hotel direction finding tool in the handle?” to which the official answer was “No, but it does have a whistle so you can hail a cab to take you to a hotel”. Sounds fair enough to us, and it’s still a pretty spiffy knife. And if it’s good enough for Bear, it’s good enough for us.
True North T-shirt.
No matter what kind of adventure dad is into, this T-shirt has him covered. 18.5 micron (think extra fine and soft) 100% Merino makes this one of the softest, most comfortable natural T-shirts anywhere. Ever. It’s naturally breathable and the thermo-regulating qualities of the wool provide natural insulation so he’ll stay cool when it’s warm, and warm when it’s cool. A perfect all year round T-shirt. Available in two colours and designs.
These days, we rarely go on our own adventures without one of these stashed in our pack. Turns almost any kind of natural fresh water source into drinkable water. The regular one is good for up to 1,000 litres of water and weighs next to nothing. It requires no power, batteries or replacement parts, removes 99.9% of waterborne bacteria (E.coli, salmonella etc) and protozoa (Giardia and Cryptosporidium etc) – ie the stuff that makes you crook – and doesn’t use iodine or iodinated chemicals so the water tastes just fine. It’s perfect for hiking, trail running, back packing, camping and travel.
From $34.99. (Although the fancy new steel one is slightly more.)
Altitude Crew or Zip.
This is our signature item and if you want dad to stay warm and comfy when it’s cold, you’ll struggle to find a more natural, more comfortable, more Australian top than this anywhere in the universe. It’s premium Aussie merino wool, so it’s super soft and guaranteed itch-free. We’ve also made it with flat-lock seams so there’s almost zero chance it will chafe, even if he’s wearing a pack. (It’s basically the next best thing to no seams at all.) It comes in Crew for regular wearing, the Zip for extra versatility (sleeves up zip down when it’s milder, sleeves down, zip up when it’s cooler) and our exclusive, limited edition ‘Mongrel’ (for a few extra dollars) for dads who like to make a bit of a statement.
