This month’s Share Your Adventure $50 Voucher winner is Clint Rokebrand. Originally from Western Victoria in Australia, Clint’s currently working at Nakiska Ski Resort in Alberta, Canada, so as you can imagine, he has some awesome stories to tell. So we’re guessing earning himself this $50 voucher was quite a simple task! 😉 Clint grew up in a wool growing family here in Australia so already has an understanding of the benefits of wearing lightweight, high performing Merino Wool thermals when he’s in the outdoors, and especially when he’s on top of a mountain! Check out his story below. And if you’d like to earn yourself a $50 ioVoucher, then click here for more info.

“I’ve been living on a ski mountain in Alberta, Canada, for about 6 weeks now, and at the start my mates and I found it to easy to be sucked into sitting on the couch watching TV on our days off.
It didn’t take long before we decided we were living in one of the most beautiful, picturesque places on earth, so we should make the most of it. There is an abundance of hikes within 20 minutes of where we’re living, so we made the decision to try and do one or two every time we had a couple of days off.
We got up early one morning and set off on a trail that led to the Mount Allen Trail (allegedly the highest maintained hiking trail in the Canadian Rockies).
We came across a sign map, and discovered we had taken a wrong turn and were about 1KM in the wrong direction. Instead of turning around, we bit the bullet and turned and headed straight up the side of the mountain, figuring we would eventually hit the trail.
After an arduous, what felt like near vertical climb, for an hour and a half or two hours, we hit the trail and continued climbing. The views were spectacular and the wind was some of the strongest I had experienced. We eventually hit the top, where snow made it difficult to manoeuvre over the rocks, and took a moment to take in the landscape, and recover from the 3 hours of pain.
Before long we started making our way down. Once we got back out of the snow and the ground started leavening out, our legs were ready for a break, but they still had a few kilometres feeling like jelly before we could relax”.
