We recently stumbled across the new and innovative Bios Urn, and couldn’t help but share it with you guys. We’re always searching for new ways to give back to the environment, so we were super impressed when we heard about the Bios Urn. What on Earth is it we hear you ask? Well, it’s the first biodegradable urn that actually turns ashes into a fully sustainable and flourishing tree. And by ‘ashes’, yes, we’re talking the ashes left when you’ve been cremated. What better way to celebrate the life of a loved one or pet, right?

According to the guys behind the Bios Urn, they were on a mission to change the way we look at death as it’s inevitable and part of evolution. So rather than mourning death, it’ll be a time to celebrate regeneration and new life. And perhaps most importantly a way to give back to Mother Nature.

The Bios Urn is really simple to use and requires no more care than a regular tree. To ensure it grows successfully, it just needs to be planted in a site that offers proper soil, an appropriate temperature and a few hours of sunlight a day.

The seed contained within the urn is initially separated from the ashes and germinates in the top capsule. Once the urn starts to biodegrade, the seed roots are already strong enough to make contact with the ashes. What’s more, you can use whatever seed you desire. If you don’t have your own seed, Bios Urn currently supply Pine, Gingko, Maple, Oak, Ash, Cypress and Beech seed.

The first biodegradable urn designed to convert you into a tree after life.
