Bring on Ultra Trail Australia.
Ultra Trail Australia (formerly The North Face 100) is arguably Australia’s premier trail event and it’s coming in May. This year we’ve jumped on board as an official sponsor, making sure runners have their mandatory thermals sorted and ready to go. If you’re planning on running the event, or running anywhere in the cooler weather, and want to know what layers we recommend, click here to find out more. Our superfine, super soft base and mid layers are trail tested and ultra comfortable so you’ll be set to go no matter how low the temperature drops. With everything from some of the world’s Merino-iest socks, to our best selling Merino Necktubes, we’ve literally got you covered from head to toe.
Helping our friends in Fiji.
In February Fiji was hit by Cyclone Winston. It affected literally thousands of people living there including our friends at the factory where many of our garments are made. Naturally we wanted to help and quickly announced a campaign to donate a portion of all products sold via our website, to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts. A massive thank you from everyone here at ioMerino to all of you who bought something during our campaign to help us help them.
Get ready for Winter.
We know our Northern Hemisphere friends are looking forward to some warmer weather, but for the rest of us it’s time to bunker down and get ready for some serious Winter adventure. As the old saying goes, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing” so if you want to know more about the most appropriate clothing for your adventures, check out some of these tips.
The Fat Tyre Festival is coming!
The Fat Tyre Festival is a ‘must do’ mountain bike event in the town of Melrose in South Australia. As a South Australian company ourselves, we’re stoked to get on board as a sponsor and are looking forward to seeing MTBers from all over Australia roll into town in June. Set at the base of Mt Remarkable, the weather in June can go either way – last year it was clear and warm during the day, but the mornings and evenings were quite cool. Who knows what Mother Nature will dish up this year. One thing’s for sure, our layers will keep you warm when you’re out and about. Grab something online now for your MTB adventures this season, or if you’re heading to the Festival, duck into Over the Edge bike store when you hit town and get yourself some ioMerino there.

Running with Kangaroos.
The South Australian Trail Championships take in some of the state’s finest woodland trails, often running past kangaroos and koalas. While the scenery is pretty awesome, the weather can be pretty tricky this time of year and the event is famous for dishing up what were quite possibly some of the worst race day weather conditions in the state’s history a few years back when it was freezing cold and absolutely bucketing down. We’ve got our fingers crossed the weather will be a little kinder this year as we’re sending a couple of members of our Trail Running Crew out there to run the course. Although if Mother Nature does have a hissy fit, at least they’ll be ready for it. If you’re heading along to the event, make sure you are too and be sure to come say hi. And if you’d like to touch and feel or try something on for size, be sure to let us know and we’ll bring it along for you to check out on the day.
Earn a $50 Voucher.
Remember, if you’ve got an adventure to share, send us your story and you could earn yourself a $50 voucher. We believe in all adventures, big and small, so whether it’s a micro adventure or a massive one, we’d love to hear about it. And if we feature your story, we’ll send a $50 voucher your way for your troubles. This month we had an awesome story come our way from Frederik who found himself in a spot of bother in the mountains.
